Man seen flinging cat by tail in social media video arrested on animal cruelty charge, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after Orange County deputies said he was filmed flinging a cat into the air by its tail in a video posted to social media.

Deputies said Kelvin Colon is facing one count of felony cruelty to animals.

Deputies said the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Orlando Police Department investigated the incident after the video was shared.

Colon was arrested on a warrant Tuesday morning.

“Cruelty to animals will not be tolerated,” deputies said in a social media post.

Deputies said investigators were unsuccessful in their efforts to find the cat. They said its condition is unknown.
