Man shoots suspected car thief at Orlando gas station, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man is accused of shooting a suspected car thief at an Orlando gas station early Monday, the Orlando Police Department said.

Just before 1 a.m. Monday, police said they responded to the 7-Eleven at 4305 North Pine Hills Road for a shooting.

Investigators said a man in his 20s parked his car in the 7-Eleven parking lot and entered the store. As he was leaving the store, he noticed another man in his 20s sitting in his car.

The vehicle owner shot at the man, who was in the process of stealing his car, police said. The man then returned gunfire from inside the car and drove the car away from the 7-Eleven.

Orlando police said the latter man stopped at the Wing House located at 3201 Parkway Center Court and called the fire department for his gunshot wound.

He was taken to a hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing.
