ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Amy Mercado beat Rick Singh in the race for Orange County Property Appraiser during Tuesday’s primary.
The race entered the spotlight after accusations of fraud against Singh. He was accused of altering documents during an audit into his department.

“We want to ensure that we continue as I planned, as I ran, the things that I said I was going to do – and that was to bring a new perspective to the office, and with confidence and integrity,” Mercado said shortly after her win. “People have lost faith in that office.”

Mercado, a state representative from South Orlando, said her past experience will be a major plus for her new role.
