ORLANDO, Fla. — A motorcyclist died after crashing into the back of an SUV on Shader Road in Orlando, and the SUV driver left the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Shader Road, west of Aquablue Way, in Orange County.
Troopers said a Suzuki motorcycle and a Chevrolet Tahoe were traveling east on Shader Road, with the motorcycle behind the SUV. The Tahoe was slowing down when the motorcyclist failed to slow down and hit the rear of the SUV, FHP said.
The crash threw the rider from the motorcycle. The rider was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, according to the agency.
Troopers said the Tahoe left the scene after the crash.
A witness gave troopers the SUV’s tag number, and traffic homicide investigators later located the vehicle parked and unoccupied in a business parking lot. Investigators took possession of the Tahoe as evidence and planned to process it as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released the motorcyclist’s name or said whether they have identified the driver of the Tahoe.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact FHP by dialing *347 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
