ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Animal Services is looking for adopters after it took in 34 cats from a single owner over the weekend.
Shelter officials said the owner had been evicted and was now homeless. The owner had still tried to care for the cats, but it had proved to be too much.

Officials said despite the cats’ owner being in dire straits, most of the cats are healthy, strong and extremely friendly.
“It is truly incredible how far people will go for their animals and continue to care for them, even under the worst of conditions,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

Shelter officials said the owner was scared to reach out to animal services because they’d heard horror stories about OCAS.
“We know OCAS is often painted in a bad light by the public, and people are terrified of their animals ending up here. The reality is our staff will do everything we can to make sure these animals feel safe, feel loved, and find a good home,” shelter officials said. “The mission is, and always will be, to save as many as we can.”
