Employees flee Orlando auto parts store after man with gun demands access to safe, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police in Orlando are looking for a man who attempted to rob an Advanced Auto Parts store at gunpoint.

9:58 a.m. update:

Police confirmed a man with a gun tried to rob the Advanced Auto Parts store Tuesday night on West Church Street.

Officers said the man entered the store before 9 p.m. with a firearm and demanded to be taken to the safe.

Police said employees fled the store, as well as the suspect.

Officers said the suspect fled on foot and was wearing a black ski mask, gloves and all black clothing.

Channel 9 is asking Orlando police about an active incident at an auto parts store.

Police were seen around 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Advance Auto Parts store at Church Street and John Young Parkway.

Several officers responded to the location, and some were seen with their guns drawn near the front door of the business.

Police K-9s were also on the ground as the Orange County Sheriff’s Officer helicopter was seen flying overhead.

It’s unclear what happened, and no information has been released by law enforcement.
