Orlando police teaching internet safety to children as internet crimes increase during pandemic

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department says detectives are going around to summer camps to teach children how to be safe online.

This comes as the agency says it is seeing an alarming increase in internet crimes against children during the pandemic.

The police department said it has investigated hundreds of internet crimes against children over the last year.

Detective Jennifer Wing works behind the keyboard to catch the predators.

When she’s not investigating, she’s informing kids how to better protect themselves from the dangers lurking online.

Orlando police said its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received 478 cases in 2020 alone.
