Prosecutors drop MDMA trafficking charges against Kodak Black

Prosecutors dropped all legal proceedings against rapper Kodak Black following his arrest earlier this year

Rapper Kodak Black arrested on drug charges in Orange County Jail

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Prosecutors have dropped all legal proceedings against rapper Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, in connection with a May arrest in Orange County, court records show.

Kapri had been accused of trafficking MDMA, a synthetic drug commonly known as ecstasy or molly. But Florida prosecutors ultimately chose not to file formal charges in the case.

An attorney for Kapri filed a motion in July seeking to end his bond and pretrial supervision requirements, arguing that the state had not filed charges within the required time period.

Court documents state there was not enough evidence to establish that Kapri possessed contraband. A judge subsequently ordered his bond release, ended the remaining pretrial requirements and directed that records connected to the case be cleared.

The case was formally closed on Friday, Sept. 11.
