Woman hit by car while crossing State Road 50 in Winter Garden dies, police say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman who was hit by a car while she crossed State Road 50 in Winter Garden has died, police said.

Winter Garden police said a woman in her 60s and another person were crossing West Colonial Drive early Tuesday when the woman was hit by a car.

Firefighters said the woman died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital, but did not have any significant injuries, police said.

According to Winter Garden police, the woman and the other person were not crossing in an area with a crosswalk.

They said the driver of the vehicle was cooperative and there is no evidence that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The crash shut down West Colonial Drive in both directions.

The westbound lanes at South Park Avenue and eastbound lanes at Avalon Road were shut down due to the accident.
