Winter Park mayoral election: Meet the candidates and find your polling place

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park residents can head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their vote for the city’s next mayor.

Voters will have the choice to cast their ballots between two former city commissioners: Phil Anderson and Sarah Sprinkel.

Anderson, a local business leader, previously served as a city commissioner from 2008 to 2011.

According to his campaign website, Anderson is running on a platform of:

  • Protecting the city’s charm and character
  • Keeping the city financially strong
  • And putting residents first in city hall.

Sprinkel, a retired educator, served on the commission for nine years from 2011 to 2020 when she left her seat to run for mayor.

According to her campaign website, Sprinkel’s priorities as mayor would be:

  • Not raising taxes and promoting fiscal responsibility
  • Leading the community through the pandemic, while putting families first
  • And encouraging transparency.

Both candidates are vying to replace outgoing Mayor Steve Leary.
