Woman arrested after fatally stabbing childhood friend outside Eatonville motel, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies made an arrest in connection with a deadly stabbing that happened in Eatonville earlier this month.

Investigators said Barbara Kay Hartfield was booked into jail just after midnight.

She is a suspect in the death of Felisha Johnson, 55, who was killed May 8 outside the Hometown Suites in Eatonville.

Johnson worked and lived at the motel.

Police said she was in the parking lot in front of her motel room at around 1:30 p.m. when Hartfield showed up with a knife and stabbed Johnson at least three times.

Johnson was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died.

Police said this all stemmed from an argument that started decades ago.

Johnson’s family said she and Hartfield were childhood friends until an argument over a man 25 years ago.

“They both was involved with this guy 25 years ago,” said Anyssa Johnson, the victim’s sister.
