ORLANDO, Fla. — The city of Orlando is putting more money into a program that’s helped hundreds of people who are homeless move into housing.

The Orlando City Council just approved $875,000 for the Christian Service Center to continue the work funding outreach teams who help people reunite with family, find temporary shelter, or even cover rent.

“Housing is the answer and that’s what this program does is allow those case workers the flexibility to find the right solution to get someone stabilized in housing,” said Lisa Portelli, senior advisor for Homelessness and Social Services.

This is the third time the city has funded the program, and each time, it’s helped at least 100 people find housing.
