Orlando Magic player tests positive for coronavirus, team official says

ORLANDO, Fla. — On the same day the Orlando Magic arrived at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to prepare for the upcoming NBA season restart, officials said one of their players will be sidelined due to the coronavirus.

Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman confirmed Tuesday that one of the players tested positive for COVID-19 and will have to join the team at a later date.

The Magic did not say which player had a confirmed COVID-19 case.

The Orlando Magic are one of seven teams that arrived Tuesday at the Wide World of Sports Complex, with the rest set to arrive this week.

The first games will not be played for a few more weeks.

The league told players that it will not suspend play in the event of several positive cases, but would look into stoppage if an outbreak did occur.
