OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — School leaders in Osceola County are exploring a change in students’ daily schedules that could stretch class into the evening.
Officials are looking into a “flex” schedule. The possible change was brought up during a discussion Tuesday evening, citing a school district in Michigan as an example that has students go to school from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a break for dinner in between.
A student representative that attended Tuesday’s meeting highlighted the good and bad with the possible change.

“They get more of their mornings through days than we would get starting on Friday at 8 a.m.," said Alyssa Williams. “But at the same time, some of the concerns in the article said they’re less social.”
One school board member argued students already have flexible options with Florida Virtual School.
No formal action was taken during Tuesday’s meeting.
