Parent reports courtyard of Winter Garden middle school defaced with swastikas

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Administrators at Bridgewater Middle School in Winter Garden were on high alert Tuesday after a concerned parent reported someone had drawn swastikas on the school’s courtyard.

A parent at the school sent Channel 9 photos of the images, which they said were taken by a Jewish student at the school Friday.

Orange County Public Schools notified the school’s principal, who could not find any evidence of the defacement Monday.

Officials said the symbols could have been washed away by rainstorms over the weekend.

Bridgewater Middle School’s principal told custodial staff to be on the lookout for any other similar incidents and school administrators said they were investigating the report.

There has not been any issues with discrimination at the school in the past, officials said.
