FLORIDA — People Power for Florida is hosting its annual “Dorm Storms” voter registration drive across five university campuses as students move into residence halls for the fall semester. The initiative provides voter registration assistance to help students prepare for the 2026 midterm elections in November.
State Rep. Dr. Anna V. Eskamani founded People Power for Florida in 2021 to bring civic engagement directly to college campuses. Moving into residence halls gives students the opportunity to register to vote or update their registration details to reflect their new campus addresses.
This year, People Power for Florida is partnering with five other youth-led organizations to expand its voter outreach efforts across the state. Volunteers and coalition partners are meeting students during move-in week to answer questions about voting rules in Florida and assist with completing registration forms.
State Rep. Dr. Eskamani, founder of People Power for Florida, highlighted the move-in voter outreach initiative. “This is one of our favorite and most fun traditions,” Eskamani said. “We can’t wait to welcome students back to their campuses and to get them to become more civically engaged!”
The registration canvass schedule spans five higher education institutions across Florida between Aug. 18 and Aug. 24. Events are taking place at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida State University in Tallahassee, the University of South Florida Tampa campus, Florida International University in Miami, and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.
