DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The president of Keiser University’s Daytona Beach campus was suspended by the school after he was carjacked Sunday night.
Daytona Beach police said they believe he was attempting to pick up two women for a sexual encounter when he was attacked.
Matt McEnany, 60, told police he stepped out of his car at Lenox Avenue and South Peninsula Drive to speak with two women when a man hit him in the head from behind.
“I was picking up these two girls because they needed a ride somewhere,” McEnany told a 911 operator. “And all of a sudden this guy jumps me.”
The victim was then shoved to the ground, and the man and the women drove away in his car, police said.
McEnany told a 911 operator that the two women, known as Luscious and Brittany, were his friends. But Police Chief Mike Chitwood said the man intended to have a "sexual rendezvous" with them.
The man’s Toyota Venza was found in a parking lot Monday morning.
McEnany was suspended pending an investigation into “an allegation of a serious nature,” a Keiser University spokeswoman said.
