NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A gopher tortoise crossing the road sparked a fiery crash in New Smyrna Beach, police said.
Eastbound State Road 44 was closed at West Canal Street for about an hour so a hazmat crew could clean up a gas leak that was a result of the crash.
