ORLANDO, Fla. — A man fatally shot his father in an Orlando apartment a mile north of the Universal Orlando Resort early Saturday, the Orlando Police Department said.
Cesar Benitez-Hernandez, 22, called 911 shortly after 7:30 a.m., saying he had been stabbed by his father, Cesar Benitez-Ferri, 48, at the Summerfield Apartments, near South Kirkman and Conroy roads, police said.
When officers arrived to the apartment complex, they found Benitez-Hernandez with cuts on his hand and his leg, and they found Benitez-Ferri's body.
Benitez-Hernandez told officers he fatally shot his father in self-defense after an argument escalated into a fight.
He was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center before investigators interviewed him.
Police said evidence and inconsistent statements led them to arrest Benitez-Hernandez and charge him with first-degree murder.
A judge denied Benitez-Hernandez bond Sunday morning.
He's being held at the Orange County Jail.
