Mascotte's police chief talked to Channel 9's Tim Barber about a newly released investigation into the Police Department.
The 10-page report looked at discrimination and harassment complaints filed by one of the department's sergeants.
While there is still an internal investigation into alleged problems in the department, the report is seen as a big win by the city.
According to the report, an independent lawyer hired by the city of Mascotte found Sgt. David Grice's harassment and discrimination complaints to be baseless. The report did say that there were a dozen complaints that were outside the scope of the investigation.
Police Chief Rolando Banasco said he is relieved, even though Grice is still on the force.
"Is it going to be hard working in the same building as (Grice) now?" Barber asked Banasco.
"Absolutely not; you have to maintain your professionalism," said Banasco.
But Mascotte City Manager Jim Gleason said Grice has filed similar complaints against the previous police chief.
"Is there a problem here at the Mascotte Police Department that you guys need to fix?" Barber asked Gleason.
"Yes, and it's with a disgruntled officer who cannot seem to get along with his chief and his peers," said Gleason.
The report listed a claim by Grice that Banasco is intimidating, but the attorney found that other officers believe that Grice is the one who is intimidating.
"Is it worth it to keep him on the force?" Barber asked Banasco.
"I would have to say as a professional, I just hope and pray that he is willing to change his ways in thinking," said Banasco.
Barber's call to Grice for a comment on the report was not returned.
