KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Residents in Kissimmee are concerned the alligators in Lake Toho are being fed by humans too often.
Donna Maddox said she walks along Lake Toho in the evening when it’s cooler, and she’s noticed people feeding the alligators on several occasions.

“I would say if we’ve been here 10 times, at least nine, so a good majority of the time,” Maddox said.
She took video of a large alligator she spotted in the lake and also took several photos.
Maddox said several people have complained to state wildlife officials and residents are concerned alligators are being fed everything outside their normal diet of turtles, snakes and fish.
“Popeyes Chicken, deli (food) from Publix, crackers,” Maddox said.
Resident Bernie Kain said the gators are too comfortable, and she’s seen people walk down the ramp and get close to the animals.
“I am concerned if somebody does get hurt, and it’s bringing in more gators. Of course if there’s food, they’re all going to chomp down on it,” she said.
FWC officials said they’re looking into the complaints.
