ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Some residents called Eyewitness News for help when they said the leaks in their roofs and ceilings became worse.
Residents who live at the Sumerset Apartments on Lee Road in Orlando said they’ve been complaining to management without any help.
"That water collects on her floor, (and) her floor is my ceiling," Lashan Connelly said, showing Channel 9's Roy Ramos. "My major concern is that the people upstairs are going to come tumbling down on top of me."
Connelly said she’s been dealing with the problem for about a year.
A spokesperson for Orange County Code Enforcement told Eyewitness News that it has seven open cases from residents all dealing with leaking ceilings, soaked floors and mildew.
Management at the apartment complex told Eyewitness News that they’re aware of the leaks and are currently awaiting bids from roofing companies to make the repairs. They said the best they could do at this point was allow residents out of their leases without paying a penalty.
