School bus crashes into pond; no serious injuries

TAMPA, Fla. — No serious injuries were reported after authorities say a Tampa Bay area school bus crashed into a pond and overturned.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that the bus was carrying 27 students from Mary E. Bryant Elementary School through Odessa Thursday afternoon when it left the road, went into the pond and fell onto its side.

A news release said three deputies who first arrived at the crash jumped into the water to rescue children. Authorities say the driver and all the students were accounted for.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash or if charges would be filed. A mechanic was expected to examine the bus Friday.
