Search continues for fake Uber driver who tried to lure women into car

Police are searching for a man who they say tried to lure women into his car by pretending to be an Uber driver in Ormond Beach.
Investigators told Channel 9's Mike Springer that the women were leaving a bar on West Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach on Sept. 9 and began looking at their phones. The man, pretending to be an Uber driver, pulled up and tried to get them into the car.
A similar incident was reported two weeks ago in the area, and officers said they've received several tips since then.
“Ormond is a nice, fun, happy-family little community, a beach community, and then there is some guy trying to lure girls into his car, and stuff. It's kind of scary,” said Uber user Vanessa Macheli.
Police said the women reported that a tricked-out Chrysler 300 with Tennessee plates pulled up to them after they left the Grind Gastro Pub and Tiki Bar on a Friday night.
Investigators said the driver asked the women if they were looking for their Uber, and he told them he was their driver and tried to get them into his car.
The women refused because he did not match the description of the driver.
The man drove away, and the women later reported it to an Uber driver, who called police.
“You never think it's going to happen. There's sketchy people out there. You just have to be aware and be careful,” said Uber user Christine Judson.

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Police said the man was described as Hispanic with a muscular build and a teardrop tattoo on his face.
