SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies said a burglar targeted a Seminole County neighborhood and left behind the same clue at every scene: a half-open garage door.
The burglar stole garage door openers from homeowners’ cars and used them to get inside the house, according to deputies.\
Raw: Man steals garage door openers
Surveillance video shows a man digging through cars outside Patricia Collier’s Seminole County home Sunday morning, looking for a garage door opener that would give him access to her home.
“Everything was in place, but the garage door was open just halfway,” Collier said. “It is shocking. You feel violated.”
Sheriff’s Office reports said the burglar did it seven more times in Chuluota neighborhoods on County Road 419.
Another victim’s surveillance video shows the thief taking a dirt bike.
Collier and her husband Jason Collier said they reprogrammed their garage door opener so that whoever has the other one can’t get in their home with a click of a button.
They took to social media to share the video to warn their neighbors and in hopes someone will recognize the man.
“It’s violating, honestly, and there’s nothing you can do,” said Jason Collier.
Deputies are not calling the man in the video a suspect, but they are investigating the crimes and showing copies of the footage to neighbors.
