Man accused of attempted murder, arson in Winter Springs apartment fire

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla — Winter Springs police say they have arrested a man in connection with an attempted murder and arson Thursday morning.

Police arrested 30-year-old Justin Michael Lorrison in Oviedo after a pursuit.

According to police, around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, they received a call from a person who said that there was smoke in the apartment and that they were bleeding heavily.

When police arrived at the Seville on the Green apartments, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a first-floor apartment.

Police said they found one person inside the apartment bleeding from the neck.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

While on scene, police learned that Lorrison, who had fled the fire, had been spotted driving near State Route 434 and Winding Hollow Boulevard.

According to police, Lorrison then led them on a short pursuit into the city of Oviedo before using stop sticks to stop the car and take him into custody.

Lorision faces a number of charges in addition to arson and attempted murder.

Crews from the Seminole County fire department, along with those from Longwood and Lake Mary, were able to put out the fire just after 3 a.m.

Two people from nearby apartments were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting residents who were left homeless by the fire.
