ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — A picture may be worth a thousand words, but Valerie Michelle said she only needs two: “Hire me.”
She’s an aerialist who has performed on several Royal Caribbean cruises until the coronavirus ground her performances.
“The cruise industry as you know has tanked right now; we hope it comes back soon,” she said. “Who knows when it will come back, but I’m doing what I can to make ends meet. Especially when unemployment ending soon.”
The pandemic has put millions of people out of a job, but professional photographers in Central Florida and across the nation are working to create 10,000 complimentary professional headshots to help Americans get back to work.
Michelle got hers taken Wednesday in Altamonte Springs.

According to LinkedIn, people who include headshots receive 21 times more profile views and nine times more “connection” requests that could potentially lead to a new job.
A quality professional headshot can set you back about $250, but the goal is to provide 10,000 photo sessions — $2.5 million worth of headshots for free.
