SANFORD, Fla. — UPDATE: Smog the iguana has been found and reunited with his owners. Police said tips from the public led investigators to Smog, who was located in good health.

Between 1:45 pm and 1:50 pm, an unknown person removed the Iguana, which was roaming freely at the business.The Iguana belongs to the store and the employees allow the Iguana to roam freely at the store. On December 28, 2019, Officers responded to Pet Supplies Plus - Sanford, FL located at 3701 Orlando Drive, with a possible sighting of the iguana. The store manager of Pet Supplies Plus advised that on December 26, 2019 at approximately 2:30 pm, an unknown male and female, entered the store with an Iguana. The unknown male was wearing a black and red long sleeve t-shirt, black shorts, with red and black flip-flops. ORIGINAL STORY: Sanford police are searching for a stolen iguana named “Smog” that they said was swiped from a local smoke shop last month.

Police said Smog was possibly spotted before the new year with an unknown man and woman at Pet Supplies Plus in Sanford. Investigators posted photos of the pair and the 5-foot-long lizard on social media Monday asking anyone who recognizes the couple or has seen Smog to call law enforcement.

Police said Smog was stolen on Dec. 26 from Pipe Eyes Smoke Shop on South Orlando Drive in Sanford. Employees said the iguana belongs to the store and is allowed to freely roam the shop.

In a social media post, officers said Smog was freely roaming the store when he was snatched. Sanford police ended their post with the hashtags #WeIguanaFindYou, #RoamingFreelyDoesNotMeanFree and #ComeBackToUsSmog.
