ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings spoke out about excessive force complaints against his deputies after an incident near the University of Central Florida.
The excessive force complaints against Sgt. Brett Parnell and deputy Richard Nye stem from the arrest of Deidra Reid, 21, who investigators said was trespassing at an apartment complex.
Reid was charged with trespassing and her friend, Reginald Lane, was charged with resisting arrest.

The incident happened at The Retreat apartments near UCF.
The confrontation between Reid and Lane an off-duty deputy, who lives at the complex was caught on video.
Reid does not live there, and deputies said she got into an argument with the deputy's son, who asked her to leave.
When he refused, Reid claims that the deputy used excessive force to put her into handcuffs.
"The sergeant warned this individual, told her to leave and she (refused) to leave," Demings said.
In the video, Reid is shown lying on the ground, pinned by Nye. Deputies said Reid refused to leave and "threw down her belongings and took a fighting stance."
"They pushed me into a fence and dropped me on the floor," Reid said.
Another clip shows a large law enforcement presence at the complex, including one deputy holding a rifle.
Another deputy is shown ordering Lane to stop resisting and then kneeing him as he's being taken into custody.
Demings said the cellphone video does not show the events that happened inside the clubhouse before the arrests.
Those events were also caught on video, which has not been released.
"The clips will show a 9-year-old boy ignoring a non-resident trying to gain access to the clubhouse. The next clip shows the non-resident, Deidra Reid, bullying the child for not letting her into the complex," Demings said.
Reid and Lane's attorney, Natalie Jackson, along with the National Action Network, will hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
