DELAND, Fla. — A combination of bling and bullets is proving popular for a DeLand jewelry store.
The owners of Downtown Goldsmith, Jewelry and Engraving are sending eligible customers who spend more than $450 on select jewelry home with a free shotgun.
They said the current promotion is popular; they’ve given away 15 guns and ordered 20 more on Christmas Eve.
“(It) gives you incentive to buy something for your wife and you get something for yourself,” employee Jessie Czeroc said.
The store has done the promotion for Christmas and Valentine’s Day for the past three years.
“It is kind of a weird promotion I guess – kind of exciting though,” said shopper Scott Zeidwig,
Don’t think getting the gun is as simple as picking out a piece of jewelry, though, Czeroc said.
Customers will have to undergo a federal background check before they can leave with the gun, he said.
