Local churches offering online services amid coronavirus pandemic (WFTV Staff)

ORLANDO, Fla. — Local churches are doing their part to help thwart the spread of the coronavirus.

Many people are still heading out to churches Sunday morning but some local parishes are making it possible to worship from home.

Discovery Church in Orlando has closed its doors and services are only available online.

In a statement on the church’s website, officials said they are not acting out of fear, but acting out of responsibility to the community they serve.

Dr. James Morris is the minister at the Carter Tabernacle CME church in Orlando.

Their doors will be open Sunday but the minister sent out a two-page letter to his congregation detailing the threat of the coronavirus and reminding them they can worship online.

Morris said the church will have extra hand sanitizer and communion will be in sealed individual serving containers.
