A short time earlier, FHP said that several callers had reported seeing a white Dodge Charger on I-4 near Deltona “swerving all over the roadway.”

A trooper caught up with the car as it was merging from I-4 onto I-95 northbound, driving “significantly under the speed limit,” according to an arrest report.

The trooper who pulled Hardy over at mile marker 262 near Daytona Beach reported that he appeared to be confused and smelled of alcohol.

Investigators said Hardy’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
