Judge denies bond for teenage boy accused of 2 Winter Park beatings

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County judge denied bond Tuesday morning for a 16-year-old boy who police said was involved in two beatings at Winter Park public parks in one year.

Simeon Hall faces adult charges of felony battery and tampering with an electronic monitoring device after police said he beat a teenage boy on Oct. 8 at Ward Park.

Investigators would not say how Hall tampered with the electronic monitoring device.

"We have concerns over the safety of the community and your inability to follow court orders," the judge said.

Investigators said the attack left the teen victim with a serious head injury. Hall was booked into the Orange County Jail Monday, records said.

Police said Hall and Jesse Sutherland, 15, beat Trindade unconscious in downtown Winter Park's Central Park. Trindade was removed from life support after being hospitalized for two days.

Hall and Sutherland were charged with manslaughter in connection with Trindade's death. Hall was also charged with battery.

Jagger Gouda, 14, was charged with witness tampering and battery -- charges to which he pleaded no contest. He's scheduled to be sentenced in November.

It's unknown if Hall will be tried as an adult on previous charges.

Hall faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
