Third student comes forward claiming to have had sex with Lakeland high school teacher

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A third student at a Polk County high school has come forward saying he had a sexual relationship with a teacher.

Investigators are now calling Jennifer Fichter a predator.

She was back in front of a judge Thursday after a second 17-year-old admitted to having sex with the teacher at his parent’s home at least 20 times during the 2011-2012 school year.

“I don’t understand it. She had everything going for her. She gave away a career, a job, a life,” said parent Abigail Roche.

Roche said she caught her son messaging the teacher on Facebook and called the Sheriff’s Office to investigate, but charges were never filed.

“That’s probably what frustrated me the most. If it would have been taken care of at that moment, it would have saved the parents' kids drama and the tragedy of it all,” Roche said.

Fitcher, 29, was first arrested nearly two weeks ago when another mother discovered messages between her son and the Central Florida Aerospace Academy teacher.

WFTV learned Fitcher left a position within Orange County schools during an investigation into an inappropriate relationship with an eighth-grade student.

The third victim in the case claims they had sex last year.

“We’re up to three victims and there could be more. We hope there’s not, but she knew what she was doing the whole time,” said Sgt. Gary Gross with the Lakeland Police Department.
