ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A Titusville man was arrested Wednesday and charged in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in Orange County last year.
Daniel Strickler, 24, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash involving death.
Strickler was driving his Toyota pickup truck on Colonial Driver near Tanner Road in August when he hit and killed Nicholas Smith, 20, as he rode his bicycle across Colonial Drive, Florida Highway Patrol Troopers said.
Strickler then left the scene of the 2:33 a.m. accident without stopping, according to troopers.
Strickler took his truck to the Titusville Police Department about 12 hours after the accident and told officers he had been involved in a crash, troopers said.
FHP troopers took a statement from Strickler and took his truck for testing, according to troopers.
Strickler was booked into the Orange County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
