TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Looking for a furry friend? May 20 is National Rescue Dog Day.

The SPCA of Brevard will host an open house adoption event Saturday morning.

The event will be held at their facility from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Attendees will get the chance to find their best friend and receive half-price on the adoption fee.

There will be microchip and nail trim specials, plus custom-engraved pet tags.

Animal shelters in Florida are reaching capacity. Susan Naylor, associate director for SPCA of Brevard, said their shelter is at total capacity.

“We have cats and kittens of all ages, as well as so many wonderful adult dogs, including a few smaller breeds,” Naylor said.

The SPCA of Brevard needs help from the community to help many dogs and cats find their fur-ever home, so the shelter will have more space to bring in new pets in need.
