ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — The trial for a former school resource officer accused of sexually abusing a boy began Monday morning in an Orange County courtroom.
Louis Mercado was arrested in July of 2008 after a then 24-year-old man said Mercado had abused him when he was a child and teenager.
Investigators said Mercado met his victim in the Big Brother, Big Sister program when the boy was just 7-years-old.
Mercado was a 16 year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
