UCF football player accused of punching deputy

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One of the University of Central Florida’s star football players is facing felony charges for allegedly punching a deputy.

Investigators said they asked J.J. Worton to leave the Knight Library bar Saturday night.

Worton then tried to punch a deputy and hid under a car, according to investigators.

When investigators tried to arrest him, he allegedly punched a deputy in the chest.

He was then sprayed with pepper spray.

Worton is a wide receiver and set a UCF freshman record for receptions.
