Volusia County small businesses can earn up to $3K in grant money due to coronavirus pandemic

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County is using more than $10 million it received through the CARES Act to help local businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Each business that meets the criteria, such as being in good standing and having fewer than 25 employees, can receive up to $3,000.

“With no income at all basically in it’s hard, but this grant would really help for sure,” said Todd Ayes, owner of the Daytona Beach Board Store.

Ayes said his shop was hit hard by the pandemic, and as soon as he found out about the grant process, he grabbed his paperwork and made sure he had everything lined up so he could apply Thursday morning.

“This will not close us. If we had gone longer being closed something could have happened. We are very happy, and we are in a good situation here,” Ayers said.

The county will begin taking grant applications Thursday at 9 a.m.
