2 teens killed, 2 others seriously injured in Volusia County crash

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two teenagers were killed and two others were seriously injured in a crash in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just after 8 p.m., troopers said the crash happened at Osteen Maytown Road and Uranus Trail.


Troopers said a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Osteen Maytown Road when the 17-year-old driver exited a left-hand curve abruptly and lost control.

FHP said the driver left the roadway and entered a water-filled ditch on the south side of the road.

The front right of the pickup truck struck two pine trees before it reentered the roadway, officials said.

Troopers said the pickup overturned several times and collided with another pickup truck traveling westbound.

The 17-year-old driver was partially ejected from the pickup truck and died at the scene.

The front passenger, a 19-year-old man, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the back of the pickup, a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the second pickup truck, a 50-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
