Baby born in DeBary gas station parking lot meets with first responders

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The family of a baby boy that was born in the parking lot of a DeBary gas station met Friday with the first responders who were able to lend a helping hand with the birth.

The Wonder family was rushing to a hospital early Monday morning and quickly realized they weren’t going to make it.

The family made the decision to stop at a nearby gas station and call 911 for help.

“I was like, ‘This baby is coming. I can’t stop him,’" said Renee Wonder, mother of the baby.

A calm and collected 911 dispatcher assisted in bringing their baby into the world, and minutes later the baby was born.

First responders quickly arrived and took the mother and newborn to a hospital.

The Wonder family met the 911 dispatcher that saved the day Friday.

The dispatcher said extensive training prepared her for the birth.
