‘Racism will not be tolerated’: Video shows Volusia County student using racial slurs on school bus

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A video shared on social media shows Volusia County students using the N-word and other racial slurs to refer to students on a school bus.

The district said students in the video have been identified and that the video does not reflect the culture of the Volusia County School District.

“Racism will not be tolerated. Whether face to face or on social media, there is no place for hate in our school district,” said Kelly Schulz, director of community information services. “We have zero tolerance for this behavior.”

Schulz said administration officials are handling the situation but that the district can’t comment on any disciplinary actions regarding students due to privacy laws.
