Woman hit by car on State Road 417 in Seminole County

SEMNOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A stretch of State Road 417 in Seminole County is closed while the Florida Highway Patrol investigates a crash.

Troopers were called to the southbound lanes of State Road 417 near U.S. Highway 17-92 (S. Orlando Dr.) in Sanford just after 10 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified only as a woman, was taken to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with critical injuries, according to FHP.

Troopers say they’re now trying to determine what she was doing on the busy highway and why she walked into traffic.

Drivers are being asked to use caution as they travel through the area.
