Misty To Mom: "I Didn't Have Anything To Do With Haleigh"

ST. JOHN COUNTY, Fla. — Misty Croslin-Cummings lashed out at Putnam County investigators from behind bars. In the latest round of jailhouse tapes just released, Misty said once again that she doesn't know anything about the disappearance of 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings and she wants detectives to stop asking about it.

"That's what they think, I'm going to break. There's nothing to break me on, so they need to leave me alone," Misty said during a taped visitation.

Newly-released jailhouse tapes show a more animated Misty. She visited with both her mother and father and she's frustrated and defiant.

"If they give me 20 years in prison it'll be okay, because you guys will come see me. I'll get out and everything will be fine. I'm not scared," she said.

Croslin was the last known person to see Haleigh. Haleigh disappeared from her home in Putnam County one year ago.

Misty is being held in jail on $1 million bond on drug trafficking charges unrelated to Haleigh's case, but investigators do believe she knows more than what she's saying about Haleigh and is the key to finding her.

But Misty denies any involvement and says she's tired of even being asked about it.

"I don't care, because they're not going to put me away for something I didn't do. And I didn't have anything to do with Haleigh. And if I knew who did, I would tell them. I've told them everything I can tell them and they need to leave me alone about that," she said.

Investigators say Misty, her ex-husband and Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and her brother were caught selling prescription drugs to undercover deputies. Misty told her parents that she believes some of the drug charges against her will be dropped. Her father agreed, but only if Haleigh is found.

"We can find Haleigh. It would be better for everybody," Misty's father told her.

"I know. I've been, I sit and wonder, everyday thinking, just trying to go back and think if I missed anything. I do, everyday. And it's just not, dad, there's nothing. I'm telling you. It's hard," she said. "God's going to bring Haleigh home."

Wednesday night, Misty's family and friends held a vigil in Haleigh's honor. They say they're not giving up hope.

"I don't know who has our baby or why they have her, but we just want them to bring her home," said Teresa Neves, Haleigh's grandmother.

Investigators have looked into more than 5,000 leads in the case, but they are no closer to finding her than they were a year ago.
