ORLANDO, Fla. — Travelers should expect to go through stricter security at U.S. airports. The Transportation Security Authority announced new screening procedures it says will be more effective at finding potential threats.

Until now, TSA officers were able to choose one of five pat-down methods. The new policy allows them to only choose one method that requires "sufficient pressure to ensure detection."
The TSA said the pat-downs will be more a little more invasive, but will not increase passenger wait time to get through security. The agency added that the new policy will not add any different areas of the body to the pat-down process.
The new policy comes two years after a report found major security lapses across the country.
