Popular Local DJ 'Erica' Fired After 19 Years

ORLANDO, Fla. — On Friday morning, the remaining members of a popular morning radio show spoke for the first time about the sudden firing of one of its most popular DJs. Erica Lee of the Scott and Erica Show on Mix 105.1 FM was fired on Thursday.

The show, which usually begins at 5:30 each morning, was more than a half an hour late on Friday. A show producer told Eyewitness News that the show staff was still trying to wrap their heads around Erica's firing.

Shortly before 7:00am Friday, Erica's former co-host Scott Mackenzie addressed the situation, saying the station announced changes Thursday and one of them was Erica Lee's removal from the station after 19 years.

"So, for me, this, uh, is needless to say is the toughest couple of days that I can remember and my apologies to anybody who has actually been hit by a truck, because that is how I feel today," Mackenzie during Friday morning's show.

Mackenzie will continue to do the show along with a show's producer Jay.
