Searching for Hidden Mickeys in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park

Inside the first arch, on the left mural, three leaves under the wrist of the king’s extended arm form a classic Mickey.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened in 1998, and the art of the Hidden Mickey was well established by then. So expect to find creative and long-lasting Hidden Mickeys in this wonderful park, which is themed around animal conservation. For this article, I headed first to the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia.

As you approach the temple ruins with the tiger exhibit, look down to the wall painting to the right of the first arch. Swirls in the water under a tiger form a classic (three-circle) Hidden Mickey.

Inside the first arch, on the left mural, three leaves under the wrist of the king’s extended arm form a classic Mickey.

Inside the second arch, on the left mural, there’s a small classic Mickey in a brown rock formation on the left side of the mountains.

Inside the second arch, on the right mural, a classic Hidden Mickey appears in the upper part of the left cloud formation.

As you exit the temple ruins, turn to your immediate left to a large wall mural. Among the leaves is a dark green classic Mickey. It's about nine feet above the ground and one foot from the bricks at the left side of the mural.

While ambling through Asia, be sure to stop and admire the animals!

Remember that other characters are Hidden on Disney property. Let's revisit this side profile of Baloo (the bear from the Jungle Book movie)! Find him inside the small seating area behind Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa, on the wall nearest the path to Asia. For this photo, I had to pull back a curtain that often covers him.

I like to savor a quick snack at the bar of The Rainforest Cafe at the park exit.
See the growling cheetah at the left of the sign? On the top of his head is a black marking that looks to be a decent classic Hidden Mickey. You have to stand at the side of the sign to spot this image. It's close to the ear at the left of the photo. I think I'll add this image to the next edition of the Hidden Mickeys book.

Enjoy the search!
