SWAT Team Called To Mount Dora Target

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Police believe reports of an armed robber with hostages at a Mount Dora Target store may have been a hoax.

A SWAT team ran in to search the Target store on U.S. 441 and Eudora Road, Sunday night.

Mount Dora police initially reported it was a robbery, and that the SWAT team was searching for a suspect inside.

The manager of the Target called Mount Dora police just before nine p.m. He says he heard over the Target hand radio system that an employee was being robbed at gun point.

There were about 15 customers inside the Target, at the time. Mount Dora police had to evacuate the store.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office SWAT team searched the store but found no suspect. All of the store's employees were accounted for.

The store manager told police this is not the first time this type of hoax has happened at a Target store in Central Florida.

Police say at this point, they can't verify that a crime was even committed.
