LAMAR COUNTY, Ga. — An 88-year-old Georgia man has completed his dream of graduating from college.
The Rev. Horace Sheffield, from Barnesville, earned his bachelor of science in Christian studies with a minor in liberal arts Friday.
Sheffield graduated in Shorter University’s Class of 2017.
His granddaughter, Jill Brazier, said that when her grandmother died her world almost fell apart, but Sheffield held everyone together.
"He is my family’s rock," Brazier said. "I know my granny is smiling down on him right now saying, 'I knew you could do it Horace!'"
