Two people were cited after bringing a “pet” fawn into the store, located near Augusta, WSB-TV reported. They were cited for being in possession of wildlife without a permit, according to the television station.

“Just when you think you’ve seen it all,” the Law Enforcement Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources wrote in a Facebook post earlier this month.

Deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office contacted Game Warden Saxon Campbell, who was able to find the two customers and confiscate the young deer. The animal was surrendered to a locally licensed wildlife rehabilitator, the Department of Natural Resources wrote on Facebook.

“This is a good time to remind everyone that just because you find a fawn ‘abandoned’ by its mother, it most likely has just been left alone until she returns and should never be moved,” the agency wrote on Facebook.
